React Native — Do we still need native apps?

Almost all companies are jumping on the native app train and riding along hoping to attract more customers. This means a customer needs to download and install the app on their phones, then most likely sign up for the service which takes roughly about 5–10 mins approximately.

This is time-consuming but many companies still invest millions of ISK to develop such an app. After it has been developed companies need to hire people to debug the app. Costing even more money.

Why do companies do this?

Well, for starters. Apps have entered the mainstream and customers sort of expect it nowadays. Native apps for a home delivery service would be a massive boost in service to the customer and Dominos in Iceland for example is an excellent example of doing this successfully.

Another company just released its app. Aha.is which is another food delivery company in Iceland that has developed an app that understands voice queries in Icelandic. This is a huge step forward and so far it works pretty well. Apps are going nowhere it seems.
